Omega Seiki, an Indian automaker, recently announced a 1 billion INR investment to establish EV manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh. Local automaker BDAuto plans to produce three-wheeler EVs for both domestic and international markets.

"On one full charge, a car would run for 500 kilometres. Bangladesh is an ideal country for these EVs because our maximum routes are not more than 500km, so one charge will be enough," he said.
Monira Sultana, chairman of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority, said, "We need to consider the conditions of our 57 lakh private cars and how to phase them out, dispose of them, or transform the engines. We need regulations on those."
