Aware of the important energy challenges characterized by an energy deficit that has been getting worse since 2001 and of the importance of the existing solar thermal potential which represents more than 4 million m² of solar collectors, the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) has deployed an ambitious national program for the promotion of solar thermal technologies in Tunisia called "PROSOL".

The PROSOL program targets residential and small-scale activities as well as the promotion of solar thermal technologies in the tertiary and industrial sectors.

Since 2009, the sectors covered by the PROSOL program have been extended to the tertiary sector in order to promote solar thermal technologies in hotels, hospitals, local communities, collective residences, municipal swimming pools, Moorish baths, sports facilities, etc. It represents a very interesting potential of more than 500,000 m² of solar collectors.

Thanks to the PROSOL program for tertiary, 21,200 m² were installed until the end of 2015 enabling to realize achievements, since annual realizations have increased from 94 m² in 2007 to more than 3.000 m² of solar collectors installed since 2009.

In order to achieve this objective, a financing mechanism has been set over the period 2009-2016. It consists of allocating bonuses to tangible and intangible investments through:

A 10% additional bonus on the cost of the material investment, with a limit of 50 DT / m² for the solar installations of collective solar heating systems of a surface exceeding 15m²

Particularly hotels, healthcare establishments, academic houses, hammams, indoor swimming pools, local authorities, sports facilities, etc. on the status of beneficiaries of the PROSOL Tertiary Mechanism

The specifications and the list are available in the download section.

Who are eligible under the "specifications for the eligibility of prescribers and technical controllers " and identified on the lists of control offices, will be responsible for controlling the technical feasibility and implementation of the project. The specifications and the list are available in the download section.

Who are eligible in accordance with the "specifications for the eligibility of installations companies" and identified on the list of the installation companies available on the website, will be responsible for the supplying of the solar equipment including solar collectors, In accordance with the "product eligibility specifications" and included in the list of sensors available on the site, and for carrying out the installation projects of solar installations. The specifications and the list are available in the download section.

Who are eligible under the "Supplier Eligibility Requirements" and identified on the list of eligible residential suppliers available on the site will be responsible for the installation of collective solar installations of individual solar heating systems eligible and listed on the ANME lists. The specifications and the lists are available in the download section.

The National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea (MIETM) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), have launched, since 2010, the PROSOL Industry Project to promote the use of solar thermal technologies in the industry in Tunisia.

In order to disseminate the results of the completed studies, a workshop was organized on the side-lines of the second edition of the EnerSol international forum-show WSEF 2014, on 28 November 2014.
