BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) will soon convert its headquarters in Seria from gas to solar power.BSP Managing Director Dr Ceri Powell said the company is investing millions to build a new solar park close to its headquarters, which currently houses 1,400 staff.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 21 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei''s Department of Energy at the Prime Minister''s Office welcomes the installation of solar panels at residential houses and buildings to facilitate and encourage wider use of solar energy said Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Muhammad Juanda Abdul Rashid during the 19th Legislative Council session.
Awang Muhammad said there are about 20 companies supplying solar panels as well as offering installation services. At the moment, 40 private residences have been installed with solar energy, he said.
The minister also noted that the Department of Electrical Services has provided temporary solar facilities for around 90 houses in remote areas, while the programme to provide more supply of electricity in rural areas is being carried out.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 30 (Xinhua): Brunei is looking at developing small and medium-scale solar projects that suit the country's environment and conditions, as the country saw an increase in the usage of green and renewable energy, Haji Mat Suny, Brunei's Minister of Energy said.
According to local daily the Borneo Bulletin, the minister said during a recent panel session at Singapore International Energy Week 2020 that solar technologies are already being utilised in Brunei to supplement the rural population's energy supply.
The new solar farm will contribute to Brunei’s target of generating 100 MW of solar energy by 2025, energy minister YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mat Suny Hj Md Hussein told Legislative Council (LegCo) members during a meeting on February 3.
Local companies such as Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and Berakas Power Company have already installed solar photovoltaic (PV) technology earlier this year, the minister added.
It was previously reported that 7,000 solar panels would be installed to power BSP’s headquarters, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 600 households per year.
