Work originally began to replace the old hospital in the Jesús María district in October 2018. The six story, 28,344.64 square meter structure first became operational in 2019. It houses 80 medical offices, 128 hospital beds, an obstetric and a surgical centre, an intermediate intensive care unit plus a heliport designed to provide facilities for police officers and their families.

The two 180kW CumulusPowerTM units were set up in parallel (2x3xIM60) with battery banks made up of four cabinets each containing 200 batteries, to provide a 30-minute run time at 75% load. The installation took four staff just 15 days to complete.
As a result of the of the success of this project, the hospital has commissioned a second phase installation to provide the same level of resilience and back-up for nine other areas of the facility including the datacentre, the adult ICU, new born ICU, the labour room, surgical centre and emergency rooms.
